Dr Therese Kirsten
Dr Therese Kirsten is an experienced medical practitioner with a strong background in general practice, paediatrics, and emergency medicine. She grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, where she completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2003.
Following graduation, Dr Kirsten gained extensive experience working in South African public hospitals, developing broad clinical skills across complex and high-acuity settings. She further specialised her knowledge in child health, obtaining a Diploma in Child Health in 2007, which underpins her strong interest in paediatric and family medicine.
Dr Kirsten commenced her Australian medical career in Queensland in 2008, before relocating to Victoria in 2020, which she now proudly calls home. She has worked across a range of paediatric departments, including Paediatric Emergency, and is equally comfortable managing presentations in adult emergency care. This dual emergency medicine experience supports a confident, well-rounded approach to both acute and chronic health concerns.
In 2025, Dr Kirsten commenced General Practice training and has found particular satisfaction in delivering comprehensive, patient-centred care within a regional general practice setting. Her clinical interests include child and adolescent health, acute illness, chronic disease management, and whole-of-family care.
Outside of work, Dr Kirsten enjoys walking her dogs, exploring new cuisines, and attending the theatre, helping her maintain a balanced and well-rounded approach to life and medicine.
